Networking events I have attended

One of the things I feel really lucky to have experienced during my apprenticeship is the opportunity to attend a wide range of networking events through Commsave Credit Union. These events have given me the chance to meet people from different industries, learn from experienced professionals, and build both my professional and personal skills.

I’ve attended a variety of events covering different areas of marketing, personal development, and business, including:

  • A workshop on building personal brands on LinkedIn
  • Social Minds Live 2025
  • Two events focused on building SEO knowledge
  • An International Women’s Networking event
  • Three workshops focused on creating podcasts
  • Social Minds Live x Meta 2026
  • An event with Google
  • An event with MINT focused on paid advertising and handling pushback
  • The NTFC End-of-Season Awards Dinner
  • The Marketing Meetup networking event
  • Apprenticeship Awards Day with Starting Off

Work events I have attended

Being part of the Business Development and Marketing team at a very community-focused organisation means that my role isn’t always behind a desk. I have lots of opportunities to get out and about, meet people and speak to both potential, and existing members about Commsave’s products and services.

Some of the community and promotional events I’ve attended include:

  • Civil Service Live 2025 – An event where we promoted Commsave’s products and services to Civil Servants and had the opportunity to speak to lots of potential members.
  • West Northamptonshire Council Community Event – An opportunity to get involved with the local community and promote the support and services Commsave offers.
  • Family Fun Days – I’ve attended family-focused events at Rushden Lakes, Wellingborough, and Northampton town centre, where we promoted Commsave while getting involved in the local community.
  • Partner Company Events – As part of our partnerships, we attend events at some of the organisations we work with. I’ve had the opportunity to attend events at Royal Mail, Toolstation, and Travis Perkins.

Courses and webinars

As part of both my apprenticeship off-the-job hours and my own personal development, I like to make the most of my free time by taking courses, attending webinars, and learning about different areas of marketing.

Over the course of my apprenticeship, I’ve completed and attended a range of different courses and webinars, including:

  • Three The Marketing Meetup webinars covering growing social media platforms and improving SEO
  • Copywriting courses and webinars
  • Email marketing and campaign webinars
  • Lots of Girls in Marketing webinars
  • Lots of Pretty Little Marketer webinars
  • Graphic design courses
  • Public speaking courses
  • PR courses
  • A Google Analytics course
  • A Project Management course
  • A Psychology in Marketing course

Every event, course, and webinar I’ve taken part in has given me something different to take away. Whether it’s picking up a new marketing skill, gaining a better understanding of the industry, meeting new people, or simply becoming more confident in professional environments, I always find something valuable to take from the experience. I’ve really enjoyed stepping outside of my usual day-to-day role and getting to experience different sides of the marketing world.

One thing I’ve definitely learnt throughout my apprenticeship is just how much there is to marketing! There are so many different areas to explore, and there’s always something new happening. Every time I attend an event, complete a course, or join a webinar, I come away with a new idea, skill, or perspective. Marketing is constantly changing, so I enjoy keeping up with new trends, tools and ideas, and finding ways to bring what I’ve learnt back into my role at Commsave. I think this is one of the things I enjoy most about marketing!
